Maine DMR Hosting Meeting Aug. 15 on BOEM's Draft Fisheries Mitigation Strategy

The federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has released a draft Fisheries Mitigation Strategy, which provides high-level guidance for mitigating impacts to commercial and recreational fisheries from offshore wind development. BOEM's draft provides recommendations related to project siting, design, navigation, access, safety measures and financial compensation.

The draft strategy and associated documents, and instructions on how to submit comments is available on the federal regulations website. BOEM is accepting public comments on the draft until August 22, 2022.

In response to the publication of this document, the Maine Department of Marine Resources is hosting a virtual public meeting via Zoom at 5 p.m. on August 15, 2022. (Register to attend here.) 

A representative from BOEM will provide an overview of the draft guidance and answer questions. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
